  • Project Daedalus

    • Reference: 2012/0070-2
    • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
    • Meeting date: 20 December 2012
I wanted to pick up first on Project Daedalus and then moving forward on that. Obviously in the detailed evaluation report that we have had it showed the reoffending rate for those leaving the Heron Unit was 53%, whereas the national reoffending rate was 70%, but that was only for the first cohort. I am wondering, are you going to be looking at the later cohorts to assess what their reoffending rate was - which would mean we probably would not get the final details until the end of next year?
  • Leveson Inquiry (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Jenny Jones
    • Meeting date: 20 December 2012
This is an incredibly difficult area because in fact you do not want to stop whistle-blowers. You do not want to stop the police officers who are reporting on illegal activities within the Metropolitan Police Service. You want them to come forward. At the same time, you do not want false allegations leaked. In the past, the Metropolitan Police Service has had incidents where that has happened and officers do not seem to have been published. We have the de Menezes stuff and we have the Tomlinson stuff. Metropolitan Police Service officers have got away with false allegations or false...
  • Drug Intervention Programme (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Jenny Jones
    • Meeting date: 20 December 2012
I wanted to bring us on to the topic of violence against women and children. I think you know that we are doing a piece of work on it at the moment. We have met with women's support organisations and so on, with a view to presenting that report to MOPAC and then having it feed into your update to the Mayor's strategy. That is all going fairly smoothly at the moment. I wanted to ask you in particular about two of the Mayor's pledges on domestic violence. One of them was that he has pledged to maintain the number...
  • Budget proposals

    • Reference: 2012/0059-2
    • Question by: Jenny Jones
    • Meeting date: 29 November 2012
Can you tell us a little bit about how the budget proposals were developed between the Metropolitan Police Service and the Mayor's office?
  • MOPAC consultations

    • Reference: 2012/0061-2
    • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
    • Meeting date: 29 November 2012
I want to ask about, and we have touched on it a little bit, the consultation that is going to be taking place and is taking place on the Local Policing Model, the Estate Strategy and the Police and Crime Plan. We have heard so many different things about this, perhaps, Stephen, if we could just start off with you, if you could just clarify to us exactly what will be consulted on in January. I think you said 7 January. What is going to be in it in terms of will there be options around the estate, will there...
  • Fraud

    • Reference: 2012/0053-2
    • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
    • Meeting date: 25 October 2012
I want to talk about the general issue of fraud, and then I want to get into a specific example. First of all, perhaps briefly, Deputy Commissioner, you could outline what the police are doing, what checks you have in place, to alert you to cases of potential fraud?
  • Undercover Officers

    • Reference: 2012/0056-2
    • Question by: Jenny Jones
    • Meeting date: 25 October 2012
I want to ask you some questions about undercover officers, Mr Mackey. I have been asking the Commissioner questions now since June and I finally got a letter on 23 October 2012 marked Confidential and Private. There was absolutely nothing private in there and absolutely nothing confidential. Basically, it was saying it could not answer certain questions of mine because of difficulties in exposing various practices and so on. I just do not believe that some of my questions are not able to be answered by the MPS and I will give you an example. Under which European or UK...
  • Borough Command Units (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
    • Meeting date: 25 October 2012
I just want to be absolutely clear on this, because you are saying there are a range of options, but the Metropolitan Police Service has a model, one Metropolitan Police Service model that has been approved by the MPS management board, which you have been consulting on, and in that model, the model has a basis of sharing chief superintendents across a number of boroughs. That is part of this model that you have consulted on, so it is one model that you are consulting on, not a range of options, is that right?
  • Front Counters

    • Reference: 2012/0045-2
    • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
    • Meeting date: 27 September 2012
Thank you. I want to move on to looking at some of the police estate issues. Craig, you were going to talk about that earlier. I wonder from this initial dialogue you have been having, though maybe I would call it mood music rather than perhaps dialogue, what are the common issues that are coming up so far particularly relating to front counters?
  • Peel Centre

    • Reference: 2012/0047-2
    • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
    • Meeting date: 27 September 2012
I just want to pick up that with the big redevelopment of your training facilities up at Hendon, I was just wondering, there are huge challenges there I think over the next three years. You are going to have to take staff and trainees off that site while it is rebuilt. A very brief update - you might want to send more details in writing - on progress so far. For the Deputy Mayor, do you think you have the relevant staff within your Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime to manage a project on this scale? I am wondering...
