  • Oyster System

    • Reference: 2007/0254-1
    • Question by: Roger Evans
    • Meeting date: 05 December 2007
The Oyster system and the Oyster online system are not properly integrated as they have different passwords, and it is not possible to check your journey history online if you have topped up your card at a station. When customers request information by email, they are told that it can take up to 5 days, which means it is actually quicker to get it by post. Does the Commissioner believe that this system is cheap, efficient or environmentally friendly?
  • Fare Evasion

    • Reference: 2007/0255-1
    • Question by: Roger Evans
    • Meeting date: 05 December 2007
The Assembly's Transport Committee recently observed a team of Revenue Protection Inspectors greeting a succession of bendy buses. We were told that in a 2-hour period, the RPIs could expect to find 100-130 bus users without tickets and on every bus we saw a great number of bus passengers rush to escape from the bus as soon as they saw they would be checked. Unsurprisingly, it is difficult to ascertain quite how many passengers surreptitiously swiped their Oyster cards only after they had seen they would be checked. Is 100-130 bus users without tickets an acceptable figure?
