    Given that the transport assessment in the Vauxhall Nine Elms Battersea Opportunity Area Planning Framework identified problems of peak and off-peak congestion in the ticket hall, lack of step free access and a failure to realise the benefits of a third escalator at Vauxhall Underground station, what plans are there to improve the service given to the 44,000 or so passengers passing through the station on an average weekday?

    The VNEB OA Transport Study (2009) predicted that if the growth in usage of Vauxhall Underground station continues, in five years time access to the station would have to be restricted at peak times because of overcrowding, eventually leading to temporary station closures. Does the Mayor agree that this would be a terrible situation for commuters using the station? And will he ask Transport for London to take action immediately to avoid this eventuality?
