  • LFEPA Cuts and the Safety of Londoners (Supplementary) [5]

    • Question by: James Cleverly
    • Meeting date: 02 December 2015
James Cleverly AM MP: I am happy for either the Commissioner or the Chairman to answer this. When the traditional disposition of London’s fire stations was brought about, I suppose, with the early 20th century expansion, is it fair to say that fire and fire risk was the single biggest driving factor in the equipment disposition of fire stations and fire appliances?
  • Subject: 3rd Runway Mitigation (Supplementary) [4]

    • Question by: James Cleverly
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2015
James Cleverly AM MP: In your explanation as to why Atlanta and O’Hare are able to have almost double the air movements that Heathrow has, we are at 400,000 and something and they are at 800,000 and something air movements. Is that right?
  • London 2036: an agenda for jobs and growth (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: James Cleverly
    • Meeting date: 01 July 2015
James Cleverly AM MP: Thank you, Madam Chair. Prompted by Mr Knight, you mentioned more corporate involvement in the housing market and the provision of housing specifically for employees. Across the country, there are some significant examples where business owners have taken a very direct role in the provision of housing. I am thinking of Port Sunlight, Bournville, etc, where those - for want of a better word - early corporate entities recognised that they had a vested interest in the provision of good quality, local housing for the people working in their businesses. You mentioned the utilisation of pension...
  • Cuts to Policing (Supplementary) [7]

    • Question by: James Cleverly
    • Meeting date: 03 June 2015
Sir Bernard, I welcome the comments that were reported about your views on fitness standards within the MPS and policing in general. As someone who has to take an annual fitness test for the Reserve Forces twice a year, which I still find quite amusing, I welcome those. Allied to that and linked to overall policing numbers and policing output from those numbers, the number of officers on long-term sick and restricted duties is still significant. Will you also apply the attitude that you have taken around fitness standards to those officers who - perhaps through no fault of their...
  • 2016 Achievements (Supplementary) [5]

    • Question by: James Cleverly
    • Meeting date: 10 September 2014
I would like to get some idea. Seeing as the headline of the question was “2016 achievements”, I would like to explore some of the things that you feel you are still looking to achieve by 2016, particularly in southeast London, which is the area that I represent. Obviously one of your very high profile transport achievements is the timely introduction of a New Bus for London. I would like to know when we will see more of the elegant and benign transport mode south of the river, particularly southeast London.
  • Government Delivery of Mayoral Policies (Supplementary) [8]

    • Question by: James Cleverly
    • Meeting date: 20 June 2012
I am very supportive of your aspiration to take greater control of the Southeastern Overground rail network because quite obviously, just on the nearby quick trip to New Cross, you can see the massive improvement in services coming through that part of the London Overground line. Actually, one of the things that I am also very keen to explore is the opportunities for greater integration of different public transport modes in southeast London. At the moment, my constituents are disproportionately reliant on heavy rail and I would certainly be keen for you to explore greater integration with Docklands Light Railway...
  • Government Delivery of Mayoral Policies (Supplementary) [13]

    • Question by: James Cleverly
    • Meeting date: 20 June 2012
Thank you, Chair. I want to return, if you do not mind, to the greater involvement with surface rail. I am going to focus particularly on my constituents and the rail routes that run through that, but I think these are probably applicable to others as well. One of the concerns that has been I know raised is the concern that politicians, MPs and councillors have in Kent and other Home Counties, not so much that their constituents will be disadvantaged under your tenure as Mayor, but that if there was a change of political leadership here at City Hall...
  • LFEPA Reserves

    • Reference: 2011/0084-1
    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 07 September 2011
What representations has the Chairman made to the Mayor about the use of LFEPA's large financial reserves?
  • LIFE Scheme

    • Reference: 2011/0085-1
    • Question by: James Cleverly
    • Meeting date: 07 September 2011
In light of recent events in London, how is the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority continuing to support the excellent LIFE scheme?
  • LIFE Scheme (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 07 September 2011
Can I echo James Cleverly's remarks from our side in terms of the support and praise to the whole service during the course of the recent events. Chair, if I can deal with that aspect first - the first part of James' [Cleverly] question - then move on to mine specifically in a moment. The Chairman referred to the Enfield Sony depot fire, but can I ask the Commissioner, given the references in the previous questioning - that I know you heard - to the fires in Tottenham and in Croydon on Monday night and the iconic image of fires...
