    • Question by: Onkar Sahota
    • Meeting date: 02 September 2021
Dr Onkar Sahota AM: Good morning, Mr Mayor. Good morning, Commissioner. My question is to you, Commissioner. First of all, I want to congratulate all the stations that have been opened up for Crossrail. They are beautiful and they are improving step-free access, particularly the one in Southall, where we have the Punjabi language signage, which reflects the cultural value of Southall. I want to congratulate TfL for doing that. I also want to ask - this caused a lot of excitement - when we will see Crossrail fully functioning. Can you give us an update on Crossrail, please?

    • Question by: Onkar Sahota
    • Meeting date: 04 March 2021
Dr Onkar Sahota AM: My question is for the Deputy Mayor, Jules Pipe. You talked earlier on about vaccine hesitancy and, of course, the vaccine is a way out of this pandemic, but it does depend upon many people taking it up. Unless many people take it up, unless we are all safe, none of us are safe. What work has the Recovery Board done to attack or to address vaccine hesitancy in London?
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Delivery in London (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Onkar Sahota
    • Meeting date: 04 February 2021
Dr Onkar Sahota AM: I also am a GP and want to echo the comments about the tremendous efforts made by the NHS staff in delivering the vaccination programme, but there are challenges in London. If you look at the number of over-80s vaccinated, London had the lowest rate of vaccinations. If you look at the patchwork we have in London, I hear that some parts of London are more advanced than the others and I hear that some parts of London have been asked to slow down to let other parts catch up. There are some challenges. It is...
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Delivery in London (Supplementary) [10]

    • Question by: Onkar Sahota
    • Meeting date: 04 February 2021
Dr Onkar Sahota AM: Minister, thank you for coming and joining us this morning. The success of any vaccination programme relies on the willingness of people to actually have the vaccine. When trust was lost on the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine we knew that the uptake plummeted, and, as you know, we need to get over 80% of the population vaccinated to get herd immunity. You also know that trust is a social contract between two parties, in this case the Government and the people. While the people trust the scientists and the doctors, the Government has often...

    • Question by: Onkar Sahota
    • Meeting date: 12 January 2021
Dr Onkar Sahota AM: Thank you, Chair. My question is to Martin. Martin, the NHS is in the “most dangerous situation in living history”, said the Chief Medical Officer [Professor Chris Whitty], and the “next few weeks will be the worst to come”, he said. Can you tell people listening to this what life is like on the NHS wards now? You said earlier on that we were able to increase our staff, but actually what is happening is that the staff have extended themselves. Previously we had one nurse looking after one patient in an ICU. We have four...

    • Question by: Onkar Sahota
    • Meeting date: 23 July 2020
Dr Onkar Sahota AM: Good morning. This question is to Jordan from the CBI. In eight days’ time, employers will be made to pay the National Insurance contributions and pension contributions for workers who have been furloughed. In September, employers will be expected to start topping up their furloughed workers’ wages. What impact do you think this will have on sectors of the economy that have not yet been able to open up and generate income?
