The presence of high voltage power pylons is an impediment to development in parts of East London. It is extraordinarily expensive to bury the cables. Does the Mayor recognise that this is a real issue and that if it soaks up regeneration cash there will be little left over for anything else? Transport for London, a GLA functional body, subsidises the Transport Museum. In recent years the subsidy has grown rapidly to over £2million annually, which represents a significant subsidy for each visitor. Given your past comments on the inadvisability of governments funding visitor attractions, can you comment on this, whether the right expertise exists within TfL to manage this important visitor attraction, and whether an alternative structure or funding mechanism might better serve Londoners, visitors to London and the museum? .
