Many large London hotels have a limited range of Digital Satellite channels available for free in their rooms. Does Visit London have a strategy for persuading these hotels to add London TV to that list? Also is there anything that can be learned from commercial ventures such as `Transvision' and `Screen FX' in terms of placing vandal proof televisions showing your channel in places where potential customers congregate?

The London Development Agency is currently buying land in the Lower Lea Valley that would be required for wider redevelopment but not the Olympics. What guarantees are in place that these companies will not simply cease trading and therefore adversely affect local employment rates?

    • Question by: Angie Bray
    • Meeting date: 17 November 2004
In the IPPR/Demos report into the impact of the London 2012 Olympics it was stated '..past Olympics have failed to bring with them a sustained increase in participation. To avoid a similar mistaken expectation, a London 2012 Olympics must only be one element of the broader sports participation agenda.' With this in mind are you comfortable with the fact that the National Lottery good causes fund will bear the brunt of any overspend along with the London Council Taxpayers? What will you say to Londoners if all Lottery handouts to grass roots sports in the capital have to be cancelled...
