What are the practical implications of the clean venue requirements on 'The O2' as previously mentioned in Mayoral Question 2198 / 2005? You may recall my earlier question (14 September MQT) regarding the noise and disturbance caused to local residents by the announcement system at Earl's Court Station. I have been in correspondence with Transport for London for some months now concerning the noise and vibration caused by Volvo buses using Chepstow Road, W2. Transport for London has assured me that the faults on the exhausts of these buses have been eradicated, and that they are in discussion with Volvo to ensure that the problem does not reoccur in the future. Could the Mayor explain why TfL deems it necessary to introduce a very short bus lane on Norwood Road in order for a pedestrian crossing to be installed at the busy and dangerous junction at Lancaster Avenue/York Hill? Since the junction is already traffic light controlled, could he tell me the reason why it is necessary to change the character of the area by narrowing the pavements in West Norwood's main shopping area? What in real terms will be gained from installing the bus lane and preventing drivers from turning into York Hill from Norwood Road?
