  • Putney Bridge District Line

    • Reference: 2005/2487
    • Question by: Elizabeth Howlett
    • Meeting date: 14 December 2005
Would it be possible to remodel the track layout at Putney Bridge District line underground station so that 7 car trains can terminate there, perhaps on the outer face, when there are works or early termination of the route, invariably because of drivers work rota. This would be more convenient for the many commuters to Putney and Wimbledon as there are more bus routes from Putney Bridge.
  • 493 Bus

    • Reference: 2005/2488
    • Question by: Elizabeth Howlett
    • Meeting date: 14 December 2005
While residents welcome and are grateful for the 493 bus which runs from Richmond via Queen Mary's Hospital, Roehampton, Southfields, Wimbledon and terminating in St. George's Hospital, there have been complaints about the long delays in service; unhelpful drivers; buses not turning into St. George's Hospital and journeys cut short at Colliers Wood. I would be very grateful if TFL would look into these complaints and facilitate an improvement in the service.

In your submission to the government on planning powers you suggested that: "The Mayor should have the power to call in applications for his decision (enabling him to grant planning permission as well as directing refusal), in those cases which meet the criteria for his involvement". However, in the consultation document it states under your proposals: "encourage a rethink of Government's role in the planning of London (but the Mayor does not propose that Ministers' current powers of call-in and direction should be removed)." Can you please clarify your position on this, do you wish to have call in powers?
