  • Funding for New Bus Routes

    • Reference: 2005/2342
    • Question by: Geoff Pope
    • Meeting date: 14 December 2005
Since TfL London Buses appear to be 'strapped for cash' when communities request new bus routes or modifications to existing routes, will you consider doubling the current funding available to them for trialling new or modified bus routes?
  • Payment in Advance for Congestion Charge

    • Reference: 2005/2351
    • Question by: Geoff Pope
    • Meeting date: 14 December 2005
How do you reconcile the recently introduced discount for monthly and annual congestion charges with your view that TfL is unlikely to offer a discount for the purchase of set number of days' congestion charge which drivers who live in the Congestion Charge zone could then 'use up' at their own convenience? Do we not want to encourage such forethought - or are you happier to collect the fines when honest motorists forget to pay the charge?
  • Are there sufficient minicabs?

    • Reference: 2005/2324
    • Question by: Geoff Pope
    • Meeting date: 14 December 2005
Now that up to 5,000 London pubs, bars and clubs are serving alcohol for longer under the Government's new licensing laws and given that 10,000 minicab drivers have left the industry since 2001, is there now a danger that there will be insufficient licensed minicabs in the early hours, and that the demand will be met by illegal touts?

    • Meeting date: 14 December 2005

  • Bus Driver Behaviour

    • Reference: 2005/2338
    • Question by: Geoff Pope
    • Meeting date: 14 December 2005
What steps will you now take to enhance and develop the training courses provided both for entrant and serving bus drivers in order to achieve significant and noticeable improvements in the standard of customer service and driving offered to passengers on London's buses? Will you order an increase in "mystery shoppers" employed by TfL to monitor the behaviour of individual bus drivers?
  • Integrated Kent Franchise

    • Reference: 2005/2340
    • Question by: Geoff Pope
    • Meeting date: 14 December 2005
Do you support the decision to impose above-inflation fare rises for five years on the Integrated Kent Franchise which includes some of the busiest commuter routes in London? In view of the jump in Go-Ahead's share prices after they won the Government contract to run the Integrated Kent Franchise, will you be pressing the new franchisee more strongly to conclude a favourable deal on introducing Oyster pre-pay on their rail routes?
