  • British Transport Police

    • Reference: 2006/1515
    • Question by: Graham Tope
    • Meeting date: 12 July 2006
In your Draft Consolidated Budget for 2006/07 background statement, you said: 'given the paucity of investment by train operating companies in safety and security on the capital's overground commuter rail network, the Mayor now proposes that £3.6 million of funding be provided to deploy 89 additional BTP police officers.' Yet at Mayor's Question Time on 21 June 2006 you said to me: 'I recently announced additional funding for the overground network in my 2006/07 budget. Transport for London is providing £2.4M for 60 extra officers to be deployed throughout the overground network.' Which is it?

  • Freedom Pass Restrictions

    • Reference: 2006/1234
    • Question by: Graham Tope
    • Meeting date: 21 June 2006
Many Freedom Pass holders need to keep hospital appointments requiring them to reach the hospital by 9 a.m. The restriction on use of the Freedom Pass before 9 a.m. causes considerable expense to those on very limited incomes with a cycle of such appointments. Since there is no such restriction on free travel for young people, would it not be more equitable to remove it for the over 60s?
