  • Dangers to cyclists

    The Metropolitan Police Traffic Unit have recently been doing excellent work in raising awareness of the dangers cyclists face at road junctions and roundabouts, where accidents with large vehicles and lorries can often result in serious injury or fatality. Given that British lorries are now fitted with additional mirrors to ensure all round visibility close to the vehicles, will you consider fitting these on bendy buses?

    At the London Councils Leaders' meeting in November, you undertook to open discussions with London Councils about developing a policy presumption against building on domestic gardens in the London Plan, in order to strengthen the arm of local Councils in refusing such planning applications. Have you made any progress on this issue?

    Following the demise of Metronet, the Aldgate East station refurbishment appears to have stopped. Other station refurbishments on the lines maintained by Metronet appear also to be subject to delay. In many cases this may not greatly inconvenience passengers but at Aldgate East it means that the Eastern exit remains closed several weeks after it was due to reopen. Can you advise of the new targets for Aldgate East? Can you also list other stations on which refurbishment has been frozen or drastically slowed down, and those whose repair or refurbishment hasn't started because of the Metronet problem?
