    • Question by: John Biggs
    • Meeting date: 12 December 2007
Do you share my concern that fast commuter trains may not after all be stopping at Stratford from 2009, but may only stop there when a larger part of Stratford City has been built? Will you use your office to pressure against this outcome?
  • Disabled Access to City Hall

    • Reference: 2007/2809
    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 12 December 2007
I have been very distressed to see the trouble which wheelchair users and the frail suffer to get a taxi either into or near City Hall. City Hall is reasonably accessible internally but getting in and out of the More London Bridge site is clearly a nightmare for disabled visitors. The signage is poor and security staff do not know what the rules are or what our policy is. Can you please ensure the Chief Executive gives priority to sorting this out with More London Bridge? Do you think a member of our facilities staff should be designated as a...

Following from question 2511/2007, has London Councils adopted any position to date on the London Living Wage? Are estimates available of the number of London local government direct or contracted employees who are paid below the LLW? Please can you explain more about the GLA's engagement work with the London Boroughs to encourage them to implement the LLW? What progress has been made so far?
  • Crossrail

    • Reference: 2007/2813
    • Question by: John Biggs
    • Meeting date: 12 December 2007
Can you summarise the cash or other contributions offered to date by various business and other stakeholders towards the costs of Crossrail? Where an agreement in principle has been made what are your assumptions about the amount offered? What undertaking was entered into regarding the offer made by the Corporation of London and from what sources do you understand this will be funded? If any of those promises fail to materialise what risk will that place on Crossrail?
  • Crossrail 2

    • Reference: 2007/2814
    • Question by: John Biggs
    • Meeting date: 12 December 2007
How will the business model for Crossrail be affected by your proposals to take over responsibilities for London commuter services including those running as Crossrail? Would this represent an additional GLA family risk?
  • Oyster Development

    • Question by: John Biggs

Have you considered the development of Oyster so that it can include season ticket and other fares outside Greater London as determined by rail operators?

Why do London taxicab drivers have to rent their meters and are not permitted to buy them? Is this a valid regulatory requirement?
  • Cycle rental scheme

    • Question by: John Biggs
    • Meeting date: 12 December 2007
It is reported that you are interested in supporting a cycle rental scheme in London similar to that in Paris. Will this require public subsidy to work?
  • TOCU

    • Reference: 2007/2819
    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 12 December 2007
Is it true to say that TOCU Police officers patrol the A23 in vans and vehicles rather than riding on the bus as passengers? I have never seen a TOCU officer on a bus on the A23. Have I just been unlucky? Please can you say how many officer hours approximately were spent on buses in the last year on the A23 corridor and how many were spent patrolling in vehicles? What are the total staffing hours available from TOCU for patrolling the A23?
  • The Dip in Streatham

    • Reference: 2007/2820
    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 12 December 2007
Residents complain to me, and I know from my own experiences, that the section of the A23 below St Leonard's church, which is known locally as the 'dip', has become a `fear of crime' hotspot - one of several in Lambeth. What steps are the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership and the Police taking to tackle this fear of crime?
