  • Secure Cycle Parking

    • Reference: 2007/1583
    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 18 July 2007
My constituents tell me that one of the things that would really encourage them to cycle more is more secure cycle parking - at work, in and around their homes (this is particularly a problem for people who live in flats), on the streets and around Underground, national rail and bus stations. What steps are being taken to increase secure cycle parking in these areas?
  • North St Clapham

    • Reference: 2007/1589
    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 18 July 2007
Residents are constantly complaining to me that buses use this street illegally. (Buses are banned along North St) Despite forwarding full details of all the buses which use this street, particularly to go out of service, TfL don't seem to have explained to Bus operators that this street cannot be used. Why is this?
  • Diving

    • Reference: 2007/1590
    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 18 July 2007
Springboard and highboard diving facilities used to be available in most local swimming pools across London and had a huge attraction to the youth of the local areas. Is the Mayor aware that the number of publicly accessible diving facilities in the Greater London Area has declined by over 86% in the last 30 years and that there are now only 10 very limited facilities available across the London area? Do you believe that Sport England, with advice from the ASA, should be taking action to reverse the decline in popular access to this sport?

    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 18 July 2007
What steps are being taken to ensure that the government recognises the case to fund the East London Line Phase 2 in the 2007 Comprehensive Spending Review?
  • Blocked Drains on Red routes

    • Reference: 2007/1594
    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 18 July 2007
TfL seem unable to respond to requests to clear blocked drains - I have reported problems in several locations - near St Thomas's hospital and at the Elephant and Castle. I noticed recently that there are huge puddles, which collect around the road junctions in the Oval tube area. Nothing seems to improve. Is this a problem of inadequate infrastructure or are TfL's contractors not being monitored properly? I am now taking and collecting photographs of TfL red route puddles, would you like me to put on an exhibition for the benefit of TfL contractors?

    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 20 June 2007
Residents in Livesey Ward tell me that drug dealing and associated crime is the biggest problem in the area and undermines the quality of life for everyone. I can point to many communities in south London, which would say the same. How are we going to win the war on drugs in London?
