London Underground informed us on 10th November 2009 that the step-free access project at Greenford Station had been abandoned although laying the groundwork for the main lift construction works - such as cable and drainage diversions in preparation for the main piling and lift construction works, had already been completed. This has cost around £2.9m. Why was this work sanctioned originally if there were not sufficient funds to complete it, and how do you justify this waste of taxpayers' money ?
