  • London Regional Rail Authority

    • Reference: 2009/3784
    • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
    • Meeting date: 16 December 2009
Despite your apparent belief that there is a proposal for a London Regional Rail Authority in your draft Transport Strategy, I have been unable to find one. There are repeated references to "having a greater influence" on rail franchises - this is quite different from the Mayor having control of the regional rail network. In the final version of your Transport Strategy will you commit to the principle that a London Regional Rail Authority overseen by the Mayor of London should be established ?

    • Reference: 2009/3785

  • Greenford Station lift project

    • Reference: 2009/3786
    • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
    • Meeting date: 16 December 2009
London Underground informed us on 10th November 2009 that the step-free access project at Greenford Station had been abandoned although laying the groundwork for the main lift construction works - such as cable and drainage diversions in preparation for the main piling and lift construction works, had already been completed. This has cost around £2.9m. Why was this work sanctioned originally if there were not sufficient funds to complete it, and how do you justify this waste of taxpayers' money ?

As you are responsible for both the London Underground upgrade programme and for the Crossrail project, can you make clear exactly who is paying for what work at Tottenham Court Road station so that the public can be assured that funds intended for the Tube upgrades are not being diverted to Crossrail ?
  • Crystal Palace Park: further investment [1]

    • Reference: 2009/3789
    • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
    • Meeting date: 16 December 2009
Your Answer to Question No: 2715 / 2009 states that after refurbishing the National Sports Centre, the LDA has no immediate proposals to further invest in Crystal Palace Park itself. What exactly happened to Bromley's £68m redevelopment funding and what are they getting in return for two acres of housing?
  • Crystal Palace Park: further investment [2]

    • Reference: 2009/3790
    • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
    • Meeting date: 16 December 2009
What guarantees are there that the LDA's plans re Crystal Palace Park will not result in housing development on park land being the price paid for at most £12m worth of investment (the amount that the housing was estimated to raise prior to the recent decline in the housing market)?
