  • Standard of Cleaning on London Transport - Olympic Games

    • Reference: 2010/2656
    • Question by: Murad Qureshi
    • Meeting date: 15 September 2010
Constituents complain that the standard of cleaning is woefully inadequate on London's buses and the Tube, in particular bus routes 9, 11, 14, 19, 22, 38, 139, 189 and 205. This is unacceptable at any time, but will be of particular embarrassment when London welcomes the world for the Olympic Games in 2012. Will you please advise what is the current cleaning programme for London buses and Tube trains, and what, if any, changes will be made to this between now and the Games?

  • Air Quality during the Olympic Games in 2012

    • Reference: 2010/2659
    • Question by: Murad Qureshi
    • Meeting date: 15 September 2010
During the Olympic games in Beijing the biggest environmental issue for the organisers was poor air quality. In our bid to hold the Olympics, London made commitments to the IOC on this front, at least to maintain ozone levels to no higher than they were 5 years ago. With less than two years to go before London hosts the Olympic Games, what, if anything, are you doing both to comply with this commitment to the IOC and more importantly to make sure that poor air quality is not the issue it was at the last Olympics?

  • Zoning of Shoreditch High Street station

    • Reference: 2010/2662
    • Question by: Murad Qureshi
    • Meeting date: 15 September 2010
The London Overground network was planned and constructed as an outer London orbital system, eventually to become a sort of outer London Circle line, transporting passengers around the outer zones, taking the pressure off the transport system in zone one and allowing passengers to move more freely round the outer areas without entering the prohibitively expensive zone 1. One of the joys and advantages for passengers of the new East London Line is the ability to travel from West Croydon (zone 4) or Crystal Palace (zone 3/4 border) in South East London straight to Dalston Kingsland in East London, in...
  • Route maps on buses

    • Reference: 2010/2663
    • Question by: Murad Qureshi
    • Meeting date: 15 September 2010
When travelling on an unfamiliar bus route it is useful to know the next bus stop, so the on-board written and oral information is useful, but equally it would be useful to know the full route of that bus. Would it be possible to have a diagram showing its route inside each bus that serves a particular route, similar to that shown inside Tube carriages, and would you please ask TfL to look into providing this passenger information on board London buses?
  • Cycle Hire Displacement in Central London

    • Question by: Murad Qureshi
