  • RAF Northolt

    • Reference: 2017/5288
    • Question by: Peter Whittle
    • Meeting date: 14 December 2017
I note that RAF Northolt is about to undergo a £45 million renovation - without local consultation - which could pave the way for it to become a fully-fledged regional commercial airport. Despite a cross party coalition of MPs, AMs and 3,000 people in West London demanding answers on the MoD's intentions at Northolt, there is still no sign that they are willing to hold a proper consultation. What representations has the Mayor made to the Secretary of State for Defence to encourage him to hold a meaningful consultation with local residents?
  • Topic: Knife crime

    • Reference: 2017/5064
    • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
    • Meeting date: 14 December 2017
I congratulate the Mayor on the 'London Needs you Alive' Campaign. However, the figures of murdered teenagers in London are already double last year. The victims and perpetrators are overwhelming from BAME backgrounds. How is the Mayor specifically targeting this over represented group?
  • The London Ambulance Service

    • Reference: 2017/5292
    • Question by: Peter Whittle
    • Meeting date: 14 December 2017
Will you make representations to the Government regarding making the London Ambulance Service democratically accountable - in much the same way as the Metropolitan Police and London Fire Brigade are already?
  • Housing and the Draft London Plan

    • Reference: 2017/5247
    • Question by: Peter Whittle
    • Meeting date: 14 December 2017
I note that your Draft London Plan proposes ripping up existing planning rules and calls on homebuilders to develop sites at higher housing densities to substantially increase housing capacity in the capital. This will in my view inevitably lead to the loss of local character in many areas, yet I note that nowhere do you mention why we need to build 65,000 new homes a year in London. Why do you think London needs all these new homes each and every year?
  • Barking-Gospel Oak Line Closure Arrangements

    • Reference: 2017/5065
    • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
    • Meeting date: 14 December 2017
As the Mayor knows, the Barking-Gospel Oak Line is undergoing another closure to allow electrification works to be completed. However, while TfL are arranging to refund "regular users" of the line who take alternative routes via Zone 1, they have not arranged to do so for passengers who incur additional expense by taking alternative routes not via Zone 1. On behalf of the many users of this line who will incur additional travel costs as well as inconvenience, will the Mayor commit to pressuring TfL to extend these refund arrangements to include those that do not travel via Zone 1...
  • The Olympic Stadium

    • Reference: 2017/5291
    • Question by: Peter Whittle
    • Meeting date: 14 December 2017
Given your decision on 1 December 2017 for the GLA to take over the running of the Olympic Stadium, in the wake of the 169-page report by forensic accountants Moore Stephens, what future do you see for the London Legacy Development Corporation?

What progress has been made during your mayoralty in smashing the 'glass ceiling' for women in London?
  • Hate Crime

    • Reference: 2017/4372
    • Question by: Peter Whittle
    • Meeting date: 16 November 2017
I note the article in The Guardian on 16 October 2017, which stated: 'The Metropolitan Police are to stop investigating many lower level crimes as a result of spending cuts, a senior police officer has said. On Monday, it was reported that the UK's largest force would no longer look into many reports of crimes, including burglaries, thefts and assaults, where there was judged to be little prospect of identifying a suspect. The plan has been denounced as a "green light to thieve" but the Metropolitan police said it needed to balance the books.' However, on 9 October, I saw...
  • ACPO Property Assets

    • Reference: 2017/4373
    • Question by: Peter Whittle
    • Meeting date: 16 November 2017
In MQ 2017/2694 I asked you 'what property assets were inherited by the National Police Chiefs' Council from its predecessor body, the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) and a) what is their value and b) their disposal.' You replied: 'NPCC, which replaced ACPO, is a Met hosted body, which means that whilst MOPAC is the legal entity and contracting body on its behalf, it is separate from the MPS/MOPAC in terms of decision-making under a s.22 Collaboration Agreement. Any questions regarding transfer of assets will be a matter for the National Police Chiefs' Council.' However, I have since learned...
  • The Mayor's Tour of the Indian Sub-Continent

    • Reference: 2017/4375
    • Question by: Peter Whittle
    • Meeting date: 16 November 2017
I note the announcement in The Independent of 10 October 2017, that the Mayor is going to tour the Indian Sub-Continent later this year: 'to promote business and cultural ties between the two countries and the capital.' ( http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/sadiq-khan-london-mayor… ) What mandate has the Mayor been given by both the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (D BEIS) and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, with regard to trade deals between the UK and India and Pakistan.
