  • Consequences of Johnson v TfL Judgement

    • Reference: 2023/2797
    • Question by: Keith Prince
    • Meeting date: 20 July 2023
In the judgment of Johnson v TfL, it has been accepted that the only licensable taxi from new is the LEVC taxi which TfL has accepted costs over £100,000. This cost prevents many disabled taxi drivers from working as taxi drivers and also prevents many parents with childcare responsibilities from working part-time. Do you agree with me that TfL has failed with its vehicle conditions of fitness policy? Furthermore, given the policy has not been updated since 2007 to take into consideration the 2010 Equality Act, do you agree that TfL’s conditions of fitness policy may well be discriminatory?

Will you allow for a decommissioned Euro 5 diesel taxi with an LPG conversion to be relicensed as a London taxi again if it met your London taxi emissions standards? If so, for how many years would you guarantee that a newly converted LPG TX4 taxi that met the emission standards could be relicensed?

Has this technical issue been resolved or is TfL’s bus safety dashboard data still unreliable?

Please can you provide a spreadsheet showing the total reports received on an annual basis according to TfL’s financial year?
