Len Duvall AM: This year, you have managed to exceed your delivery targets on affordable housing despite the challenging economic climate. London is also building more council homes than the rest of the country. The Government, on the other hand, has missed its targets by several thousand. You missed something out, which I thought was important - others may not think so because they would like to forget - when you protected Londoners and particularly those who were involved in the TfL/Government debacle when the Government tried to force you to include a Congestion Charge across all of London at a higher charge. It was money for people to buy a house who clearly could not afford homes in London. It has made the affordability crisis in this capital a thousand times worse. Sem Moema AM: Thank you, Chair, and good morning to you, Mayor Khan and Commissioner. My question is about TfL’s delivery of its 20,000 housing target. You have got a target for 20,000 homes by 2031, of which half - I am pleased to hear - will be affordable. However, on 13 June [2023] your Finance Officer said that “the focus is on bringing forward new schemes”, so taking things through planning.
