    The November 2023 Housing Research Note 11, The Cost of Poor Housing in London, from GLA Housing and Land, states: “The estimated cost of poor housing in London is very large: around £100m per year to the NHS alone. The estimated cost of mitigating all poor conditions would be around £1.20bn. The savings made by the NHS would pay back the cost of mitigation in 12.0 years.” What new actions will you take to tackle poor housing in light of these findings?

    Since my report London’s Dead Spaces was published on 6 June 2022, I have been contacted by numerous representatives from social enterprises and charities in search of empty properties in which to provide much-needed community and neighbourhood support activities. My report recommended that: “Work should be done by the Mayor of London to map and evaluate the wider range of empty spaces in our city.” Your response to my report did not tackle this recommendation specifically, so could you outline any work you have done on this and publish any data that you hold?
