Talking about hate crimes, one of the issues in terms of how tensions have risen in recent weeks has been protestors on the Cenotaph and you saw them probably, Mr Mayor, the Royal Artillery Memorial in Hyde Park had a protestor standing on it. Would you support legislation to make sure that anybody that basically tries to deface a war memorial is arrested and faces the courts?

Tony Devenish AM: Can I first ask Assembly Member Cooper not to attack people’s children, even if it is the Prime Minister? Mr Commissioner, good morning to you. Tube noise: this morning on the Jubilee line we measured 123 decibels passing Bermondsey. This is not a party-political issue and I do not want to make party-political points on this. We all want this to be sorted. Now, you have almost sorted the Elizabeth line. Are you going to be able to sort Tube noise, and how, please?

A recent report by the Safe Homes for Women Leaving Prison initiative found that up to 6 in 10 women leaving prison are condemned to homelessness and that this problem is particularly acute in London. The ‘duty to refer’ anyone at risk of homelessness on release to their local authority is failing. Will you undertake an assessment of the effectiveness of the duty to refer in the Homelessness Reduction Act for vulnerable women leaving prison across London boroughs given the specific needs and circumstances of this group?

The London Blueprint says signatories, including MOPAC, will work towards establishing a shared approach across London to address the housing needs of women in contact with the criminal justice system, including preventing homelessness and resettlement on release. What progress has been made on this aim so far and what metrics are being used to measure the effectiveness of this commitment?

At least 50 vulnerable women are estimated to be leaving prison to homelessness in London each month. These women often have complex needs. For example, many are primary carers of children; have experienced domestic abuse and violence; or suffer with drug dependency or addition. Will the Mayor take action to ensure these women are resettled in safe and secure accommodation?

Could the Met report the numbers of sinophobia (anti-Chinese) attacks we have had in London during the past two quarters compared to earlier on in the pandemic last year. Also can we have the figures for attacks in previous years? What work is being done with the East Asian & South-East Asian communities in London to make them feel safe and secure in their homes and businesses?
