  • Question and Answer Session: Policing (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Caroline Russell
    • Meeting date: 01 December 2022
Caroline Russell AM: Thank you very much, Chair. My question is for the Commissioner. In October 2022, when you first appeared in front of the Police and Crime Committee, we spoke about diversion as opposed to criminalisation for the possession of cannabis. One of the things you said you did in your time in Surrey back in 2011 was “to be one of the driving forces nationally in building a different approach with out-of-court disposals.” You described how that eventually became community resolutions. It is clear that you see the benefits of diversion for people who are stopped with cannabis...

    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 01 December 2022
Joanne McCartney AM: Yes, thank you. My first question is for Sir Mark. Is the MPS good at supporting victims through the criminal justice service?
  • Question and Answer Session: Proposed Revision to the Mayor of London's Transport Strategy (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 17 November 2022
Joanne McCartney AM: Thank you. Mr Mayor, I think you have clearly set out the triple challenges that we are facing as a city, and you have highlighted that the inner London ULEZ has been extremely well delivered, with some drastic improvements made to air quality. However, many parts of outer London are not blessed with the same extensive public transport links that inner London is, and your MTS is about encouraging people out of cars and on to public transport, or more active travel. What will you seek to do in the forthcoming years to make sure that we...
  • Question and Answer Session: Legacy of the 2012 London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (Supplementary) [13]

    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 06 October 2022
Joanne McCartney AM: Thank you. Dave has very nicely given me a bridge into my question. I am going to ask probably Lyn. Do you think the Olympics has delivered the cultural legacy that we expected?
  • Question and Answer Session: Legacy of the 2012 London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (Supplementary) [14]

    • Question by: Zack Polanski
    • Meeting date: 06 October 2022
Zack Polanski AM: Thank you. Lyn, if I can direct my questions to you, these are about culture and creativity. Hackney Wick and Fish Island were used as case studies, particularly in your Local Plan 2020-2036, highlighting them as a Creative Enterprise Zone. It strikes me that a lot of this was about redistributing existing space. What is being done to create new space, particularly for small creative artists?
  • Adult Education Budget (Supplementary) [10]

    • Question by: Zack Polanski
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2022
Zack Polanski AM: Thank you very much, Chair. We are in a climate crisis and we know that the solutions to the cost of living crisis, the energy crisis and the climate crisis are the same solutions. One of the biggest ones at the moment is that we need to insulate homes, so I want to ask you about your green jobs. Citizens UK has been in touch with me. In April 2021 it wrote to the Mayor to ask for an annual report on green jobs, particularly around insulating homes. Will we be getting those regular reports?
  • Adult Education Budget (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Zack Polanski
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2022
Zack Polanski AM: Jules, as Deputy Mayor, I want to ask you a few questions about people seeking asylum. It is something you mentioned in your introductory remarks. First of all, just to applaud, really, that this is an important part of the work of the AEB. Now, I know that there has been a lot of focus on improving coordination of English for speakers of other languages (ESOL). Could I ask what other types of course that you are looking to do, or are doing, for people seeking asylum?
  • Adult Education Budget (Supplementary) [6]

    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2022
Joanne McCartney AM: Thank you. My first question is to Jules. You mentioned earlier you had given a funding uplift to FE providers, which I know was very welcome, but in no way is it going to offset the rises in inflation, particularly in energy bills, for example. If further funding is not given by central Government, what are the possible outcomes that could mean for FE providers and students in the city?
