Unmesh Desai AM: Thank you, Chair. Commissioner, my question is to you. Trust and confidence in the MPS in London is a key issue currently. How are you working to restore the trust of all Londoners? I appreciate that you have partially answered this question in response to the question from the Chair, but can you be more specific and give some examples, especially with regard to regaining the trust of Black Londoners, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Londoners, women Londoners, etcetera ?

Tony Devenish AM: Thank you. My questions are for Sir Mark, please. Eighty days into the job and clearly you are talking about good signals that things are getting better in policing in London, and I want to pick two topics, please. The first is obviously anti-Semitism, and AM Pidgeon has already mentioned the terrible incident last year in Hanukkah on Oxford Street. Is there any progress, please, on that investigation? You realise it is not specifically the investigation itself; it is the signal that that sends in terms of fighting anti-Semitism.

Unmesh Desai AM: Thank you, Chair, and my question is to both of you. Earlier this year, it was reported that of the 32 terror plots that have been found since 2017, 18 were Islamist-related, whilst 12 were motivated by a far-right ideology, an example of which we saw was the attack on the migrant centre in Dover last month. How is City Hall and the police service in London working with partners to understand and tackle the reasons why people are motivated to commit such acts? Mr Mayor.

Mr Mayor, the frequent closures of the District Line at weekends for essential works causes a lot of inconvenience for residents in my constituency, especially Barking and Dagenham. The information I have had from TfL does not address my concerns, and this has been going on for some years. Tony Devenish AM: Good morning or, rather, good afternoon, Deputy Mayor. You have a third of a billion pounds to spend a year. That is an awful lot of money. From what you said this morning I am not really sure if there is the step change in London that I would have thought for something you have full control on. The Mayor’s inability to turn up today illustrates. Is he actually interested in this hugely important area of public policy?

Deputy Mayor, because I used my earlier time allocation to put forward the views of New City College, who are based all over London and do some fantastic work, I have a couple of supplementary questions. One of the things that the Mayor has long called for is the ability for London to have an occupation shortages list. Have you had conversations with the Government about this? Where are the talks?
