A number of my constituents have raised grave concerns in relation to the traffic lights installed earlier on this year at the junction of Wickham Road/Orchard Avenue/Hartland Way by Shirley Library. My constituents do not understand why the positioning of the lights, when coming from West Wickham and turning right into Orchard Avenue, has been changed. Serious concerns over safety have been raised as, when cars advance forward and are waiting to turn right, drivers are unable to see any traffic lights (as there are now no backing lights in place). Are there any figures as to how many journeys are made on buses in London for free because the Oystercard reader is either broken or the Oystercard has run out of credit and the reader still beeps in the same way as normal? If so, please you provide details of numbers of non-paying passengers and the financial amounts lost as a result.
