Transport for London has a policy to add a 6 month punishment on top of a driving disqualification imposed by the courts for taxi or private hire drivers for amassing 12 penalty points from the totting-up procedure. In cases where the courts allow a taxi or private hire driver to keep their driving licence, I understand that it is TfL’s policy to ignore successful court pleadings of hardship and keep in place the additional civil punishment, meaning they still revoke the taxi or private hire licence.
