  • Public Transport in Wapping

    • Reference: 2008/0642
    • Question by: Geoff Pope
    • Meeting date: 12 March 2008
Will you address urgently the inadequate public transport in the Wapping area during the East London Line closure, in view of the following problems. Many residents now rely on the 100 Bus, which is infrequent, late and over-crowded. The 'replacement bus service' does not provide a reasonable interchange with Whitechapel station and the District/Hammersmith and City line, making it of little value. Furthermore, on the weekend of 1st/2nd March the District Line, Circle Line and DLR were all closed, so that the alternative stations of Tower Hill or Shadwell have been rendered useless, effectively leaving a whole community stranded.
  • Bay at Streatham High Road

    • Reference: 2008/0643
    • Question by: Geoff Pope
    • Meeting date: 12 March 2008
The bay outside 340 Streatham High Road (A23) has no sign to indicate whether it is a parking or loading bay. As it is believed to be a loading bay this is causing penalty charges to be issued incorrectly. Will you ensure the correct sign is erected and arrange for cancellation of parking charge notices issued for this bay?

The public consultation brochure issued in February for the Heathrow Airtrack rail proposals does not address the impact this will cause on the Staines to Waterloo line.
