According to the Department of Health's latest Health Inequality Target Monitoring, the Government will not meet its own target to reduce the inequality gap in life expectancy; in particular, the target for both men and women will not be met in six of London's Spearhead PCTs. Does the Mayor share my concern that the Government are pursuing the wrong policies?

I would be very grateful if you would call for a moratorium on the proposed Arts Council Cuts to the smaller London arts venues. Many of these excellent Arts organisations, with programming already done for the year ahead, have now been told that their grants will be reduced or cut completely from April. Do you like me wonder what the London Arts Board has been doing?

Even if you accept the premise that there is a need for the three water consultancy contracts you propose, would it not have been more appropriate to carry out these pieces of research prior to the production of the Mayor's draft water strategy last year?
  • Olympic Security

    • Reference: 2008/0297
    • Question by: Bob Neill
    • Meeting date: 30 January 2008
Tarique Gauffur has stated at the recent EDCST Committee meeting, that if in the event of foreign police, armed or otherwise being deployed on British Soil during the 2012 Games, he would not have guaranteed Command and Control over such officers without legislation. Can you ensure that the government introduce such legislation to insure against such a situation?
  • Review process of LDA funding (Supplementary) [12]

    • Question by: Bob Neill

Understood. Then, quite separately, as you also point out in your report, there is a separate police investigation into the Green Badge Taxi School which you are cooperating with?
  • Review process of LDA funding (Supplementary) [13]

    • Question by: Bob Neill
    • Meeting date: 16 January 2008
Yes, thank you very much, so that is an internal review. Your conclusions in the report, which I have read and which were submitted to the LDA Board, really put it in these terms, do they not, as Mike Tuffrey has said; in a nutshell, of the six you concentrated on, four require further work, three of those specifically involve the police and we do not know whether Brixton Base will involve the police or not because it is too early to say yet; you need to do further work. Is that a fair conclusion?
