  • Diverting cycle superhighway 8 (1)

    • Reference: 2016/0617
    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 22 February 2016
In your response to 2015/4424 you confirm that your plan to re-route cycle superhighway 8 will make cyclists' journeys longer. When routes become circuitous and cycle trip times rise relative to other modes, research suggests cycling levels drop. Please share with me the results of any modelling TfL has carried out into how the number of cycle trips taken on CS8 could be affected by these route changes.
  • Diverting cycle superhighway 8 (2)

    • Reference: 2016/0618
    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 22 February 2016
In your response to 2015/4423 you state that you will be realigning cycle superhighway 8 'away from heavily trafficked and congested roads onto quieter roads'. Please list other superhighways where this course of action is being considered, giving details of the precise locations in question.
  • Diverting cycle superhighway 8 (3)

    • Reference: 2016/0619
    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 22 February 2016
How many metres will be added to a cycle journey from the start of CS8 in Wandsworth to the route's end in Millbank under the new route alignment?
  • Diverting cycle superhighway 8 (4)

    • Reference: 2016/0620
    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 22 February 2016
Please share the evidence TfL have collected to suggest that cyclists are being deterred from using CS8 due to its current alignment in Wandsworth.
  • Inappropriate use of cyclist warning stickers

    • Reference: 2016/0621
    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 22 February 2016
Despite providing an assurance (2015/1512) that TfL had contacted operators signed up to its Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) to stress that blind spot stickers should not be used on vehicles under 3.5 tonnes, I have been informed that many operators including gold standard operators are still doing this. Please set out what new measures TfL will take to promote the use of consistent signage by operators and stop the arbitary use of these stickers from bringing FORS into disrepute.
  • Cycling on the Westway

    • Reference: 2016/0622
    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 22 February 2016
While I welcome TfL's proposal to reallocate road space away from vehicular traffic to bikes for the western extension of the East West cycle route, some cyclists consider the Westway route identified to be unsuitable because, as this is a flyover, there will be no opportunity to enter or exit this stretch of the route at intermediate points. Please respond to their concerns, explaining why alternative alignments are not being pursued in the current consultation.
  • Cycle superhighways - building a strategic network

    • Reference: 2016/0623
    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 22 February 2016
You promised a strategic network of fast, direct cycle routes but this will only be realised if a strategic approach is adopted, like that used to implement the tube and bus networks. Do you agree that TfL should be responsible for those roads with major cycle superhighway routes, just as they are with red routes in order to ensure a consistent strategic approach across the capital and prevent individual boroughs from stymying the plans?
