  • Proposal for a fully licensed Mayoral Energy Supply Company

    • Reference: 2016/0595
    • Question by: Jenny Jones
    • Meeting date: 22 February 2016
Bristol and Nottingham City Councils and most recently Manchester have decided to set themselves up as fully licensed electricity supply companies. Will you consider these, alongside my proposal to go beyond the Mayor's 'Licence Lite' and instead look at establishing a fully licensed not-for-profit energy supply business? This would allow the Mayor of London to offer Londoners and businesses fair and affordable energy and an alternative to the mainstream energy suppliers. And by re-investing income generated from the sales of energy it could provide a better resourced delivery vehicle for the Mayor's Energy & Climate programmes.
