    • Reference: 2016/1101
    • Question by: John Biggs

As the railway between Barking, Woodgrange Park and Forest Gate Junction is already electrified and will remain open while the rest of the route is closed for electrification, will London Overground continue to operate trains between Barking (platforms 1, 7 or 8) and Woodgrange Park where turn back facilities are already provided?

Could the Mayor please explain why it not viable to lease electric trains to fill the gap between the completion of the electrification and platform extension projects in mid 2017 and the arrival in passenger service of the new Class710 electric trains in April 2018? Class315 electric trains on TfL Rail duties will be replaced by new Crossrail Class345 trains from early 2017 and the Class315 trains are not currently designated for any further use. Could not the lease of ten of these Class315 trains be extended for 10-12 months to enable them to be transferred to the electrified Barkng...
  • Mainline Rail (Supplementary) [4]

    • Question by: Kit Malthouse

Kit Malthouse AM MP: Thank you, Chair. On the subject of step-free access, within the very welcome doubling of the allocation is there any money to bring step-free access to South Kensington, which, as you know, gets more people through it every year than Gatwick Airport and yet is inaccessible to large proportions of the population?

Kit Malthouse AM MP: Just on that particular point, do you think there is any danger, therefore, of the Western Extension of the Congestion Charge being revived?
  • Transport Legacy (Supplementary) [10]

    • Question by: Kit Malthouse
    • Meeting date: 10 February 2016
Kit Malthouse AM MP: Given that this is my final TfL plenary it would be remiss of me not to go through the annual ritual of raising step‑free access at a particular Tube station that has more people passing through it than Gatwick Airport every year, which is of course South Kensington. This is probably my eighth attempt to try to get some movement on this particular issue. I wondered if any progress had been made on allowing disabled people, people with prams and other vehicles that would like to access those incredible cultural assets, as well as the residents...

    • Question by: John Biggs

It is likely that Network Rail will complete the electrification of the Barking-Gospel Oak Service in early 2017 and yet TfL will not be able to put new electric trains on this route until at least April 2018. Will you support the wishes of my constituents, who will be passengers on this route, and ensure that TfL make plans to lease some electric trains they can deploy on this route so that passengers can benefit from the electrification without a long delay?
