  • Affordable Housing (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Kit Malthouse
    • Meeting date: 16 September 2015
Kit Malthouse AM MP: Mr Mayor, on this point about right-to-buy and private landlords, is it the case - I am sure you would remember - that it was a Conservative government that gave relatively wealthy people the right to buy when it introduced the leasehold format, to allow people to effectively compel landlords to sell the freehold of leasehold properties. This is a principle which is well-known in London. Presumably you would agree that the same rights that are granted to those relatively wealthy people should be granted effectively to social housing tenants. Effectively social housing tenants have a...
  • Subject: 3rd Runway Mitigation (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Kit Malthouse
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2015
Kit Malthouse AM MP: Sir Howard, I wanted to ask a little further about night flights. When we last met when you appeared in front of the Assembly, you revealed to me, as somebody who lives under the flight path, this surprising idea that no flights land at Heathrow between 6.00am and 6.20am and that there was a moratorium on that. Since then, Heathrow rather helpfully produces on its website the actual landing times of flights and, of course, there are dozens and dozens of flights that land between 6.00am and 6.20am every single morning, including this morning. Would you...
  • Meagre benefits from a third runway (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: John Biggs
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2015
Mayor John Biggs AM: I would like to be in a position to apologise for some fellow Members of the Assembly. I will start by thanking you enormously for the work you have done and for the very thorough way in which you answered the question you were asked, while recognising that there is a significant minority of people who believe it was the wrong question and that there are quite a lot of other people who seek elected office - and maybe occasionally I am a bit like this - and who would like to pretend that the desire...
  • GOB extension - Missing Station

    • Reference: 2015/2232
    • Question by: John Biggs
    • Meeting date: 15 July 2015
The elegantly named GOB extension to Barking Riverside is a fine thing. However, the absence of an intermediate station remains a massive missed opportunity. Can you outline: a. The costs b. The business case and whether this factors in the economic (and social) benefits of a station to a disadvantaged area with considerable housing regeneration and job creation potential. c. The funding Gap d. Options sought to fund it e. Whether TfL support the inclusion of a station and want to see it built. Will it, if not built, be passively provided for, both in terms of land and access...

  • Crossrail 2 Eastern Spur

    • Reference: 2015/2235
    • Question by: John Biggs
    • Meeting date: 15 July 2015
In adding my support to this proposal I strongly believe it would be shortsighted not to open up a fuller consultation on this option. Will you do so?
  • New Routemasters

    • Reference: 2015/2236
    • Question by: John Biggs
    • Meeting date: 15 July 2015
Do you have any anxieties whatsoever about revenue protection issues on the new routemaster buses where they have no conductor?
  • Emissions from vessels on the Thames (1)

    • Reference: 2015/2237
    • Question by: John Biggs
    • Meeting date: 15 July 2015
I was very concerned by your answers to my questions MQs 2015/1754-1756 which appear to show disinterest in the impact of emissions from vessels on the Thames. Although jurisdiction may lie with the Port Authority, these issues must be a matter of concern for the Air Quality Team. Will you commit to work with the PLA to tackle emissions from vessels on the Thames in future?
