    London lost a net total of 265 wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) taxis in a fortnight (week ending 22/10). That resembles a loss of 1.8% of the fleet in a two week period. 103 new electric vehicles were licensed in the same time period marking an estimated £6.9million investment made by the industry. What more can the industry do to stabilise numbers and how many taxis do TfL forecast will be licensed at the end of 2024?

    The unit cash price of the LEVC TX taxi in October 23 sits at £74,359. With the plug-in taxi grant (which runs out in Spring 2024) the cash price is £66,859. Most taxi drivers cannot afford to buy a vehicle at cash price. The cost of the vehicle alongside finance sits at £91,327.40. Do you believe the high cost of the vehicle is pushing taxi drivers out of the industry and at what future unit price does the vehicle become unviable as a taxi?
