  • Knife crime in London (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Kit Malthouse
    • Meeting date: 03 June 2015
I just wanted to explore a bit more the interaction with gangs because you are right, Mr Mayor, that the anti-gang command or the new Trident Command, as it was, was launched at the end of 2011. Obviously, there would have been a bump in activity, arrests and convictions during the early part of 2012. Many of those gang nominals will have had, in my view, relatively paltry sentences and will be now re-emerging from the secure estate. What connection is there between them reaching the end of their sentences and re-emerging and this rise in activity, which may well...
  • Cuts to Policing (Supplementary) [6]

    • Question by: Kit Malthouse
    • Meeting date: 03 June 2015
Mr Mayor, you and I have sat in this horseshoe now for just over seven years. Boris Johnson MP (Mayor of London): It has been historic. Kit Malthouse AM MP: During that time, the conversation and the questions from the other parties have never changed. Boris Johnson MP (Mayor of London): It has deteriorated. Kit Malthouse AM MP: It has always been, “You are cutting. It is a disaster. Things are going to get worse”, yet crime and the budget have inexorably fallen, together, in parallel. Do you think your victory in 2012 and the Government’s victory not a few...

  • Mayor's Oral Report (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Kit Malthouse
    • Meeting date: 21 May 2015
Kit Malthouse AM MP: Thanks, yes. Mr Mayor, just two subjects from me. On bicycles, I know you have been quite keen to lobby on modifications to motorcars in terms of emissions and the type of car and all the rest of it. There is quite a lot of technology available now for cars for sensors around the car: blind-spot sensors and object sensors. Airbags are now becoming more mandatory in cars, as are seatbelts. I wonder whether it would be sensible for us to lobby the Government on whether near-side sensors on cars could be specified, particularly in the...
  • Report of the Mayor (Supplementary) [16]

    • Question by: Kit Malthouse
    • Meeting date: 28 January 2015
Kit Malthouse AM: Mr Mayor, I completely agree with your strategies. You would be surprised. It is absolutely true to say that the police are less likely to take severe action on their toys, buildings and all the other bits and pieces if they are not constrained in some way as they are around numbers. While I welcome that, I wonder if there are other areas of activity in the MPS which are still a priority where you would seek through the budget to protect capacity? For instance, we do not talk very much in this horseshoe any more about...
  • Report of the Mayor (Supplementary) [22]

    • Question by: Kit Malthouse
    • Meeting date: 28 January 2015
Kit Malthouse AM: Mr Mayor, in my experience, the attitude of an organisation towards the taxpayer or farepayer’s pound is often best illustrated by the attitude of senior management towards their own personal expenditure. Do you think the hospitality expenses policy that is operated for senior managers at TfL is the right one at the moment?
