    There appears to be confusion in more than one London Borough over whether Hail and Ride bus services now need to be given fixed bus stops. Since the Disability Discrimination Act apparently does not make this a requirement, have Borough Councils been correctly advised by Transport for London about the requirements of the Act ?

    In view of press reports of the appalling standard of unmanned rail stations in Greater London [eg Clapham High Street, Hampton Court, Shortlands, North Sheen, Hanwell and Maryland] and the need for a visible police presence, manning by station staff, better lighting and the cleaning of graffiti and litter, will you use the new influence you are gaining under the Government's forthcoming Railways Bill to press for urgent remedies to this unacceptable situation ?

    Do you agree that since the publicly-owned South Eastern Trains is now performing better not only than its privately-owned predecessor Connex with 86.5% of trains on time and better than privately-owned Southern and South West Trains, it should be retained to operate the Integrated Kent Franchise as a comparator ? In view of the forthcoming legislation giving you new powers over commuter rail, will you press the Secretary of State for Transport to back South Eastern Trains ?
