    Just a brief point, Mr Mayor. What worries me is that this green debate is no longer scholarship, it has been taken over by politics. The discussion is now driven by politically driven forces with little interest in the value of free intellectual enquiry. That is what I think is being drowned out here. Science never stops.     The Mayor will probably agree with us that it is essential for under 18s to be able to go to the schools of their or their parents' choice without having to spend an inordinate amount of money on transport, while it is not essential for them to travel round London at taxpayers' expense the rest of the time. Why is it not possible to issue all under 18s who live beyond a reasonable walking distance from their schools and colleges with a free pass for that purpose only?
