    • Question by: Sally Hamwee
    • Meeting date: 14 November 2007
The Assembly has over the last 7 years regularly drawn to your attention the poor arrangements that exist with regard to the distribution of the Londoner. Why have you now approved an expenditure of £50,000 to ICM to "evaluate the effectiveness of different channels used to distribute the Londoner", when you are at the same time spending an additional £60,000 for cover "costs associated with boosting Royal Mail distribution" (MA3205)? If you and your officers have already identified the problem, what is the purpose of the research?

  • Take Up of Income Support Half Price Fares Scheme

    • Reference: 2007/2625
    • Question by: Sally Hamwee
    • Meeting date: 14 November 2007
The take up of the Income Support half price discount is skewed towards inner London boroughs. Lambeth, Ealing, Hackney and Haringey show the percentage of those on income support in the borough taking up the scheme is between 11.1% and 12.5% but Havering, Bexley, Bromley and Kingston only achieve between 6.2% and 4.3 %. What do you think accounts for this wide range of take up of the scheme across London boroughs and how do you intend to increase take up in those outer London Boroughs where it is presently low?
