  • Risks (Supplementary) [5]

    • Question by: Richard Barnes
    • Meeting date: 08 December 2010
Several years ago, during the bid process, Lord Coe and the then Mayor made a number of very high level promises; the most accessible Games, the most diverse Games, the most young people involved in the Games process and the most sustainable. Which of these are at risk?
  • London Underground safety (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Richard Barnes
    • Meeting date: 13 October 2010
Mr Mayor, given the opening of the inquest into the 7/7 bombings only this week and the question raised by the Independent British National Party (BNP) Member, can we acknowledge, publicly and clearly, the massive strides in safety that have occurred on the Tube network of London since 7 July 2005; the investment in radios, the investment in passenger safety issues and a whole range of things. London Underground is as safe, if not safer now, than it has ever been.
  • Heathrow and air quality (1) (Supplementary) [5]

    • Question by: Richard Barnes
    • Meeting date: 19 May 2010
Mr Mayor, success has many fathers and there are more people claiming success for leading the campaign against the third runway and the sixth terminal than there ever were marching the streets. None are more opportunistic than John McDonnell [Member of Parliament] from Hayes and Harlington. Mr Mayor, the true people who deserve congratulations are those who live in the villages of Sipson, Harlington, Longford and Harmondsworth, who have fought for years to protect the place where they live --
  • Living wage commitment (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Richard Barnes
    • Meeting date: 17 March 2010
If I may help you, and indeed the Assembly, Mr Mayor, would you join me in congratulating the London Development Agency through the Diversity Works for London (DWFL) for raising the number of companies that are actively pursuing DWFL to nearly 300 companies which incorporates within its process London's Living Wage? Would you also congratulate the responsible procurement organisation across the GLA group which has now ensured that £3 billion worth of contracts within the GLA group have within them clauses related to London's minimum wage, and indeed training opportunities and apprenticeships across London? Would you join me in congratulating...
  • Manifesto Commitments (Supplementary) [10]

    • Question by: Richard Barnes
    • Meeting date: 17 March 2010
Mr Mayor, I had also understood that a manifesto was for a full Mayoralty and not for less than two years.
  • Ealing Broadway

    • Reference: 2010/0500
    • Question by: Richard Barnes
    • Meeting date: 24 February 2010
Further to your answer to question 3928/2009, is the Mayor aware of the new opportunity for improved access to Ealing Broadway Station created by Boots's decision to forgo their lease? Given this change of circumstance, will the Mayor ask TfL to look again at the possibility of re-opening the old District Line entrance to the station?

    • Reference: 2009/3928
    • Question by: Richard Barnes
    • Meeting date: 16 December 2009
When the Mayor visited Ealing Broadway Station in early October he promised that TfL would review its refusal to re-open the old District Line entrance to the station. Has TfL completed its review? If so, what has been the outcome?
  • Station Announcements

    • Reference: 2009/0312-1
    • Question by: Richard Barnes
    • Meeting date: 09 December 2009
Are you satisfied that sufficient progress has been made in reducing the volume and frequency of station announcements?
  • North Acton Tube Station

    • Reference: 2009/3536
    • Question by: Richard Barnes
    • Meeting date: 18 November 2009
Residents living beside North Acton Tube station have been informed by TFL to expect a further three months of night time essential repair work on the bridge across the Central Line at the station. This will involve a significant amount of grinding and cutting work on concrete and steel, which will create a major disturbance. Can the Mayor ensure that TFL staff are instructed to carry out all the noisy work during the earliest part of the work shift to alleviate as far as possible the misery for nearby residents?
  • Risks (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Richard Barnes
    • Meeting date: 21 October 2009
Thank you, Chair. I would have thought one of the greatest risks that you actually run is the security of the site during build and, indeed, during the Games itself. Are you content that the structure, where you have got Ian Johnson now heading security, I assume within the Park? I am not sure if he has got responsibility for all the 134 sites plus the free to view Games. You have got him there. You have got the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) through Chris Allison [Assistant Commissioner, Central Operations, Metropolitan Police Service] and the public order with the responsibility...
