A constituent has contacted me about damp housing. With recent energy bill increases, many will be forced to switch off their heating this winter. Under-heating causes damp - for many vulnerable Londoners, black walls, respiratory health problems and disintegrating homes have become a daily reality and this creates health inequalities. While programmes like ECO are beginning to improve energy efficiency, they are failing to tackle the problem of damp, and in some cases exacerbate it as they seal old buildings without installing the necessary ventilation.
