    Are you concerned that the number of licensed Private Hire Vehicle drivers is well short of TfL's milestone targets? Apart from making the conditions for driver registration less stringent, have you considered increasing the number of licensing staff as a way of enabling you to meet your 2006 target of fully registering all drivers? Has the number of staff changed significantly since I asked you about this on the 21st May 2003?

    How many of the Private Hire Vehicles have been rejected by the licensing system and how many of these were actually considered unroadworthy and dangerous? Given the large proportion of rejected vehicles, are you concerned that the timescale for vehicle inspection has slipped?

    When TfL considered the proposal to create a pedestrian and cyclist walkway across the Thames at Chelsea Bridge, did they apply all the recommendations made by Professor Goodwin for assessing the costs and benefits? Is there any hope that TfL will help to fund this project in future years?

    What action has been taken to ensure training and guidance for traffic surveyors and engineers on where tactile crossings should be placed and why, and on introducing procedures on road safety issues affecting visually impaired people? Can TfL do anything to ensure that both its own regional teams and the local authorities staff, have such training and guidance?

    Are you concerned by current plans to demolish a potentially important covered wharf on the canal at Brentford which would be ideal as an intermodal freight transfer facility? Will you make representations to seek the retention of this facility in line with your Blue Ribbon Network policies? Do you agree that your welcome "Safeguarded Wharves on the River Thames" needs a to be complemented by a similar policy for wharves on other London waterways?
