INTERPOL estimate that the Worldwide trade in endangered species is worth US$5 Billion every year. This puts it second only to the illegal trade in drugs, in terms of its cash value. In addition, many of these illegal wildlife crimes including badger baiting, illegal hare coursing and dog fighting are committed by individuals who are stongly suspected to have links to other criminal activities.
