    When the Healthcare Commission published its annual ratings of NHS services it showed that 32 NHS Trusts improved their standing in the area of 'use of resources' while in the rating area of 'quality of service' the Healthcare Commission singled out London as 'the only area in the country in which performance for quality of service declined.' Does the Mayor consider that the Government has contributed to health inequalities in London by chasing financial performance at the expense of quality of care?

    In light of a recent report that Imperial College NHS Trust was found to have breached the National Hygiene Code, with the Healthcare Commission's report on English NHS services showing nearly half of London PCTs failed hygiene standards, does the Mayor consider that the Government's continually blaming local Trusts means the capital's health inequalities are approaching crisis point?

Does the Mayor consider this justification of his campaign with Assembly Members against the closures, and will he join me in writing to the Secretary of State for Business asking him to come clean on plans to close a further 3,000 branches?
