  • Rent control (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Sem Moema
    • Meeting date: 16 November 2023
Sem Moema AM: Thank you, Chair, and good morning, Mayor Khan. I just wanted to speak to you about the underlying issues and the reason how we got to a point where you in the previous manifesto were calling for a London-specific rent control, which should be developed with tenants, landlords and also lenders, those people who are involved in the sector as a whole. But thinking about it more broadly, [evictions under] Section 21 [of the Housing Act 1988] being the number one driver of homeless in our capital city. Just yesterday, [the London Assembly Housing Committee] as part...
  • Housing Programmes (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Sem Moema
    • Meeting date: 12 October 2023
Sem Moema AM: Thank you, Chair. We are talking about apples and oranges. Help to Buy, as everybody knows here, help precisely nobody on a housing waiting list. It was money for people to buy a house who clearly could not afford homes in London. It has made the affordability crisis in this capital a thousand times worse. The National Audit Office has repeatedly talked about how it was poor value for money. That money, which was spent giving taxpayer cash to people that already could afford to buy homes they could not afford, would have been better spent on...
  • Question and Answer Session: Transport for London (Supplementary) [12]

    • Question by: Sem Moema
    • Meeting date: 06 July 2023
Sem Moema AM: Thank you, Chair, and good morning to you, Mayor Khan and Commissioner. My question is about TfL’s delivery of its 20,000 housing target. You have got a target for 20,000 homes by 2031, of which half - I am pleased to hear - will be affordable. However, on 13 June [2023] your Finance Officer said that “the focus is on bringing forward new schemes”, so taking things through planning. Given the challenges in the housing sector at the moment with interest rates, labour issues and maybe concerns that potential partners might have about their own financial position...
  • Question & Answer Session: London's Long-Term Infrastructure Needs (Supplementary) [13]

    • Question by: Sem Moema
    • Meeting date: 08 June 2023
Sem Moema AM: Thank you, Chair, and good morning to all of you. I have a lot of questions for Sir John Armitt, but I want to use the full breadth of the expert panel today. So my question is for the Deputy Mayor, Seb Dance, and it is to ask you: what are the prospects of an expansion of Hall Farm Curve and train and tube connectivity to and from Chingford?
  • Question and Answer Session: London's Economic Recovery and Business (Supplementary) [15]

    • Question by: Sem Moema
    • Meeting date: 03 March 2022
Sem Moema AM: My question also relates to skills gaps and supporting disabled Londoners. If I could direct my question to Luke, please. Could you tell us a little bit more about the improvements the Mayor has made to improving access to learning for Londoners with disabilities and low‑income Londoners, and how that is working post‑pandemic?
  • Question and Answer Session: Functional Bodies - London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) (Supplementary) [10]

    • Question by: Sem Moema
    • Meeting date: 11 November 2021
Sem Moema AM: My question is for Lyn. What changes have you made to ensure that there is genuinely affordable housing across LLDC so that we can deliver a mixed community? I am aware that the profile of your development there has changed from around 9% affordable housing in 2014 to about 34%, which is just a shade under the London Plan [target], which is excellent, but obviously there is more that could be done. I would be interested in your views on that question.
  • Question and Answer Session: Transport for London (Supplementary) [17]

    • Question by: Sem Moema
    • Meeting date: 02 September 2021
Sem Moema AM: Nice to see you both. My question is around e-scooters and it is to Andy. I just wondered if you could provide an update on TfL’s rental e-scooter trial that is taking place in conjunction with London Councils, some boroughs and the Government? I would really appreciate understanding how it is being evaluated before the trial comes to an end next year.
