    • Question by: David Kurten
    • Meeting date: 19 November 2020
Given the new safety law banning touching mobile phone devices when driving, how will TfL ensure that Private Hire drivers comply with this, so that they do not touch any mobile devices to take a new job, or search for directions, unless they are stationary?
  • Brexit Negotiations and Impact in London (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: David Kurten
    • Meeting date: 15 October 2020
David Kurten AM: Mr Mayor, it seems like we are back in 2016 with all of these statements you are making and the points you are putting to the Assembly. We have had four and a half years since the referendum and the right thing to do is actually to push ahead and make sure that we come out of the EU properly on 31 December [2020]. We should not be using COVID as an excuse to delay Brexit for another year and have another year of transition as you are saying we should do. Do you not see the...

  • Police Officers Obscuring Their Identity

    • Reference: 2020/3776
    • Question by: David Kurten
    • Meeting date: 15 October 2020
Why did the Territorial Support Group police officers who conducted the arrest of Dr Heiko Schöning at Speakers' Corner at Hyde Park on the afternoon of 26 September 2020 cover their name tags and numbers - clipping their phones over them, or cover them with their tabards. Given its own unhappy history with this particular issue, the Metropolitan Police will be particularly aware why uniformed police officers on public order duties must be capable of being identified at all times. The alleged re-appearance of this practice is highly disappointing. Who authorised it and why?

This work was due to be completed by mid-June and effectively means that the residents and those who work in the area have been without a down escalator at this station for a year.

  • Oyster Cards

    • Reference: 2020/3781
    • Question by: David Kurten
    • Meeting date: 15 October 2020
I understand from a report in the Evening Standard 1 that TfL intends to stop accepting cash to top up Oyster cards in all London Underground stations. This step will disadvantage people who do not have bank accounts, many of whom are on low incomes. It will also impact secondary school pupils, who are due to lose their free travel passes in November and will find it impossible to top-up their Oyster cards if they don’t have a bank account. What is your thinking behind this development? 1 https://www.standard.co.uk/news/transport/cash-payments-scrapped-tube-l…
