Further to my question 390/2004l are TfL aware that Croydon East Rail Station is in travel zone 6 and that as zone 4 travelcards can be used on the Tramlink, there is an incentive for less well off Croydon passengers to undertake longer than necessary journeys via overcrowded Beckenham Junction and Hayes Line rail services which re in zone 4. Earlier on you talked about the Sustainable Development Commission and their wonderful work with regard to the airports. They have produced a framework, which is an incredibly useful and powerful tool to identify the sustainability it brings in terms of the social and economic factors, as well as the environmental ones. I think that is something that could be used as a good tool in order to bring a robust framework to the work you are talking about.
  • TfL Consultation (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Samantha Heath
    • Meeting date: 28 April 2004
My question is on something you alluded to with respect to boundaries. On the Labour group we have been concerned for a while about the buffer zones in the boundaries. What is the mechanism for looking at the Queen's Park and Kensal Green areas? We want to talk more about buffer zones, but we suspect those roads will be of particular concern. Val Shawcross has raised issues in her constituency around the impact of the Congestion Charge at the boundary. How are you going to establish where the boundary should be and if there should be a buffer zone?
