With increases in the number of Metropolitan Police officers armed with firearms and tasers, and the use of intrusive tactics such as spit hoods and stop and search, what steps are you taking to ensure the human rights of all Londoners are respected?
  • Mayor's manifesto commitments (Supplementary) [7]

    • Question by: Siân Berry
    • Meeting date: 07 December 2016
Sian Berry AM: I would like to ask for some quick clarification on some of the details of the London Living Rent homes within your funding programme, if that is OK. This product is not quite what renters were expecting. It is very similar to the Government’s existing Rent to Buy Scheme, which is not suitable for everyone. I wanted to ask. The Government’s Rent to Buy Scheme requires a good credit rating. I vaguely think that is a 'yes,' but never mind.
  • Evacuation and care of Schoolchildren (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Elizabeth Howlett
    • Meeting date: 08 December 2004
Thank you very much. One is still a little bit worried. I do not think I have had a proper answer, but my concerns are really about the legal responsibilities that local authorities ' the educational authorities ' may have. One presumes that in a critical incident, children may be removed to a separate, secure place from their parents. Now, this raises the question about legal and practical care to ensure that the children are well-cared for in the short- and medium-term. Now, the term 'in loco parentis' is, in fact, common law, and it does not assume the responsibility...

    • Question by: John Biggs

    Doubling the track?
  • Transport (Supplementary) [7]

    • Question by: Nicky Gavron
    • Meeting date: 15 October 2003
I agree that we have to get the existing transport infrastructure right. There is a direct link from Stratford to Stansted which is growing very fast in the period up to the Games. It cannot be used. It needs two things. Firstly, the doubling of the track capacity between Tottenham Hale and Broxbourne, which was planned for completion by 2007 but is now being consigned to the distant future by the SRA. It was one of their top priorities, but now it is out. Secondly, improvements are needed to the Copper Mill junction on the link between Tottenham Hale and...
