  • Provisions of Consultancy (Supplementary) [4]

    • Question by: Damian Hockney
    • Meeting date: 18 January 2006
Can you let me know how many other individual consultants in your time have been paid more than £3,000 a day and on what sort of basis while you have been Commissioner?
  • Reasons for your leaving TfL (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Damian Hockney
    • Meeting date: 18 January 2006
I really want to pick up on what Roger Evans has just said. You mentioned the inevitability of disagreements between professionals; absolutely, that is par for the course. What I wanted to know was, apart from when your contract was renewed a year ago, were lawyers involved in the achievement of this recent settlement?
  • Silverlink Metro Services (Supplementary) [10]

    • Question by: Damian Hockney
    • Meeting date: 06 April 2005
On your own admission just now, you have made clear that the transport system is not ideal. We have a situation here where people are being asked to pay not only a 60% increase, but with the western extension, TfL's own economic impact assessment makes clear that there will be a reduction in lunch-time customers for restaurants, shift-workers such as cleaners will suffer, `retailers may close down', `retailers may relocate', and delivery costs will be passed to customers. Are you not at all concerned about the disastrous impact of the Congestion Charge and the western extension over the next few...
  • TfL - Accountability

    • Reference: 2005/0139-1
    • Question by: Damian Hockney
    • Meeting date: 06 April 2005
Do you think there is any scope to improve the accountability of TfL to Londoners and, if so, how would you suggest this can be achieved?
  • Eurostar - links with other transport modes

    • Reference: 2005/0070-1
    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 06 April 2005
Eurostar - links with other transport modes The design of the new Stratford International station for Eurostar is such that it will involve passengers in a 500 metre walk to reach the Stratford public transport interchange for Tube, DLR and bus. What plans does TfL have to overcome this ludicrous situation - can some kind of transit shuttle be built?
  • Oystercard pre-pay on buses

    • Reference: 2005/0075-1
    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 06 April 2005
Why is the Oyster Pre-pay peak-hours discount only available on buses with conductors? How many routes are therefore excluded from the discount and what is this as a percentage of all bus routes?
  • Fire on Mercedes Bus

    • Reference: 2005/0079-1
    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 06 April 2005
Can you comment on the latest fire on one of the Mercedes articulated buses - were we not assured in the spring of 2004 that the problem that caused three fires on these vehicles previously had been overcome?
  • Underspend (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 14 January 2004
Thank you. Could I ask the Commissioner first whether he is happy with the quality of TfL budgeting in the London Underground area, given that there are some huge swings? Central Services with £72 million unspent, for example. Are you happy with how they are now managing the resources?
  • Underspend (Supplementary) [6]

    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 14 January 2004
  • Underspend (Supplementary) [9]

    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 14 January 2004
I noted the near £100 million projected underspend on the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) contracts and the PPP contracts, but, ever attempting to be fair, was not going to hold you responsible for the whole of that. Just one supplementary on that point before I return to the Mayor. The fines that are being levied - I think the note I have here is £32.2 million fines due to TfL from Metronet and Tube Lines - that is presumably not budgeted for. You do not budget for fines, so how does that interact in terms of the fines for the...
