  • Cuts to Policing (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Jenny Jones
    • Meeting date: 03 June 2015
One of my concerns with these terrible, savage, fast cuts to your budget has been that a lot of civilian staff have been lost, close to 4,000 since 2008. Do you know at the moment how many of those posts still exist and are being backfilled by police officers?
  • Undercover Police Still Employed by the Metropolitan Police Service (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Jenny Jones
    • Meeting date: 09 December 2014
I want you to fast forward, OK, because Theresa May [MP, Home Secretary] has promised an inquiry, a judge-led inquiry, into undercover police officers, and supposing it happens in two, three, four years’ time, and you are called as ex-Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for London to give evidence, are you going to be able to give the evidence that they want to hear? For example, will you be able to tell them how many of the four officers that were looked at by the Herne Inquiry [Operation Herne – MPS internal review into use of undercover policing by the...

    • Question by: Jenny Jones
    • Meeting date: 08 November 2006
Let me tell you about some others. Are you aware, for example, that there were 34 trips to Paris by flying? You could walk from New Scotland Yard to Waterloo and get on the train. There were also 21 trips to Brussels. It seems to me that there is this presumption that air travel is more exciting, more fun, and it seems to me that the Metropolitan Police Service is not taking the Mayor's instruction seriously. Mind you, the Mayor is probably not taking it seriously either! He said, `The functional bodies have been asked to review their policies on...

  • Alternatives to Air Travel (Supplementary) [4]

    • Question by: Jenny Jones
    • Meeting date: 08 November 2006
Thank you for that. I would just like to say offsetting is just a way of calming your conscience and not a really effective way of combating climate change. You talked about the short flights. Last year there were 120 flights to Manchester. Now, the journey to Manchester is actually just something over two hours and I can assure you you can work on the train, even in second class. Then there were 32 trips to Liverpool. These places are actually easily got to by train and I would just like to ask you if you will commit now to...

  • Terrorism Threat to London (Supplementary) [4]

    • Question by: Jenny Jones
    • Meeting date: 15 June 2005
Is it just renewed on a rolling basis, and is any consideration given to actually not renewing it?
