    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 07 September 2011
): Can I just begin by thanking, through you Chair, the entire staff of LFEPA for their outstanding professionalism during the riots? I wanted to talk to you about the future of the emergency control mobilising centre, the 999 call centre. I have it on good account that the staff of that centre performed magnificently during the riots. In fact, an entire shift stayed on as volunteers to double up the normal capacity. I hope you would not disagree with me if I said it is fair to say that is the most efficient and effective 999 fire control centre...

  • Budget Savings (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 03 December 2008
Can I just begin by declaring hospitality? I attended the awards lunch at Lords [LFEPA staff achievement awards] and I enjoyed it and I sat next to the Counter-Terrorism Joint Liaison team between the Metropolitan Police Service and the Fire Brigade, who won an award, deservedly, for their work at Operation Tiger Tiger. However, subsequently one of those posts was proposed for cuts, within this package of cuts which our colleague has been proposing. I will have to say I would much rather have kept the post than have the lunch - nice lunch that it was. Can I just...
  • Budget Guidelines (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 03 December 2008
Do you accept in any way, Chairman, that your confrontational approach to the budget-setting this year has led to unnecessary anxieties amongst staff within the brigade.
  • Mayor's Report (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 15 November 2006
I have a letter here in my hand from the Leader of Camden Council who is speaking on behalf of Liberal Democratic/Conservative Partnership Administration, and that is what he says in his letter. I am happy to share that with you although I am really in a state of despair about what has happened here. Would you agree that one of the things that made the Croydon Tram Link Scheme happen was that the Conservatives on Croydon Council supported this project all the way through 15 years, up until it happened? That was one of the critical success factors in...
  • Mayor's Report (Supplementary) [15]

    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 15 November 2006
Thank you, Mayor. While the Conservatives on the Assembly were getting very excited and hyperventilating about your trip to Cuba, the Conservatives now involved in the administration of Camden Council were busily undermining the Cross River Tram.
  • Mayor's Report (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 21 June 2006
I think he was quoted in the report, and I am sure he will come in. Can I just move onto our Chairman's comments about building multi-story car parks on Potters Field? I do not want to belabour this one; I am actually torn between thinking `Oh that is just our Chairman making another bonkers statement in order to get into the press'- and he rather likes doing that, does he not - and actually reacting to some of the alarm there was in the community. There were certainly serious reports in Southwark News where Councillor Coleman says, 'I think...
