Thank you for what you said about land acquisition. I certainly welcome the settlement that has been made with KICC, as it is within my constituency, and it is right to see fair treatment to this organisation. Mayor, if you do not want to run Carnival, why run an event like the Showcase? If you look at Angie's (Bray) question just now this links into it You said initially in the first authorisation, that it would cost the GLA (Greater London Authority) £68,000. We then move on ' a few weeks later ' the day before the Carnival and we are told that Bliss Events are going to be paid £150,000.

This is relevant Chair I assure you, honestly. Initially, you say that the balance of £230,000 would be met by sponsorship income and income from stalls. We tried even right up until the day before to find out where this is coming, and finally we learn, last week, that it is the LDA (London Development Agency) that is spending.

Can I just start off Mayor, by saying to you, in the words of one of my constituents, Roger Gillam, well done to you and TfL and all the staff. He talks about the fact that we in North East London are absolutely delighted that you have brought forward some of the planned work from phase two into phase one; that's excellent.

No, I am going on to that, if you do not mind. The issue that he (Mr Gillam) has highlighted to me just last night in a four page letter is, you talked about the £2.1 billion and of course the revenue stream associated with that for the payback, but does that cover the necessary work that is needed in terms of extending the platforms? We would be unhappy if we're just going to stay with the three line track that exists; We would still be pushing for the four line alignment. Can we be assured that this package will...

Can I just add to the statistics that you have got there, that I was at a conference two days ago, and what we learnt there, from the latest figures, was that tobacco companies need over 700 people a day ' this is young people, under 20 ' to start smoking, and that is why this is such a critical issue.

Can I put that to the rest of the panel? Do you think that it would be useful if all GLA strategies were subject to a poverty impact assessment, and that we take a more across-the-board approach?
